No. 001 · 1 HOUR TIMER

1 hour timer — a 60 minute countdown with alarm

  • 01 60 minutes, one click
  • 02 Accurate in the background
  • 03 Alarm at zero

A one-hour countdown with large digits and an alarm at zero. An hour is the standard length for practice exams, deep-work blocks, meetings and longer recipes, and the timer stays accurate for the whole hour even in a background tab.

Practice exams

Timed practice is one of the most useful ways to prepare for an exam, and an hour is a common paper length. Project the countdown at the front of the room, or keep it on a second screen at home, so the timing matches the real thing.

§ 02

An hour of uninterrupted work is a common unit for focused tasks such as writing, coding and design.

Deep-work blocks

An hour of uninterrupted work is a common unit for focused tasks such as writing, coding and design. Start the timer, close everything else and let the alarm tell you when to stop.

Meetings, workshops and baking

A visible hour helps workshops and meetings finish on time, and many breads, roasts and slow-cooked dishes need about an hour in the oven.

Questions worth asking

Q.01 Can I set longer than an hour?
Yes. Type the minutes in Minutes (up to 1,440 for 24 hours) and press Set, or press +1 min while it runs.
Q.02 Why does the screen change color?
The timer is a light as well as a clock. It starts as cool 6500K daylight and warms through the color temperatures of a sunset — 4000K, 3000K, 2200K — to an ember red at zero, so you can tell roughly how much time is left from across a room without reading the digits. Turn off Color light for a plain dark timer.
Q.03 Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown is calculated from the clock rather than counted tick by tick, so it finishes on time even when the browser slows down a background tab. The alarm plays when it ends, as long as the tab is still open and the sound toggle is on.
Q.04 Will my screen turn off while the timer runs?
On browsers that support the Screen Wake Lock API (Chrome, Edge and recent Safari), the timer asks the device to keep the screen on while it runs, and releases that request when you pause or the countdown ends.
