No. 001 · 10 MINUTE TIMER

10 minute timer — a ten-minute countdown with alarm

  • 01 Ten minutes, one click
  • 02 Screen stays awake
  • 03 Alarm at zero

A ten-minute countdown with large digits and an alarm at zero. Ten minutes fits a short focus block, a reading session, a quick workout or a timed classroom activity, and the screen stays awake until it ends.

Other timers —

A short, protected block of focus

Ten minutes is short enough that almost anything can wait until it ends, which makes it a good length for clearing an inbox, drafting a paragraph or reviewing notes. Keep the countdown visible so you are not tempted to check the time on your phone.

§ 02

Ten minutes of daily reading or instrument practice is a common target for children and adults building a habit.

Reading and practice sessions

Ten minutes of daily reading or instrument practice is a common target for children and adults building a habit. Pair the timer with the warm reading light on a second device for evening sessions.

Classroom activities

Teachers use ten-minute blocks for group tasks, quizzes and silent reading. Project the countdown fullscreen so the class can manage its own time.

Inquiries

Questions worth asking

Q.01 What happens if I pause the timer?
The remaining time is kept. Press Resume to continue, or Reset to go back to 10:00.
Q.02 Why does the screen change color?
The timer is a light as well as a clock. It starts as cool 6500K daylight and warms through the color temperatures of a sunset — 4000K, 3000K, 2200K — to an ember red at zero, so you can tell roughly how much time is left from across a room without reading the digits. Turn off Color light for a plain dark timer.
Q.03 Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown is calculated from the clock rather than counted tick by tick, so it finishes on time even when the browser slows down a background tab. The alarm plays when it ends, as long as the tab is still open and the sound toggle is on.
Q.04 Will my screen turn off while the timer runs?
On browsers that support the Screen Wake Lock API (Chrome, Edge and recent Safari), the timer asks the device to keep the screen on while it runs, and releases that request when you pause or the countdown ends.
