No. 001 · 30 MINUTE TIMER

30 minute timer — a half-hour countdown with alarm

  • 01 Half an hour, one click
  • 02 Screen stays awake
  • 03 Alarm at zero

A thirty-minute countdown with large digits and an alarm at zero. Half an hour suits a full study or practice session, a workout, a screen-time limit for kids or a dish in the oven.

Study and practice sessions

Thirty minutes is long enough to get into a task and short enough to keep attention. Students often work in half-hour blocks with a five-minute break between them; set this timer for the block and the five-minute timer for the break.

§ 02

A visible countdown makes screen-time limits easier to keep.

Screen-time limits for kids

A visible countdown makes screen-time limits easier to keep. Children can see how much time is left, and the alarm ends the session without an argument about the clock.

Workouts and cooking

Many home workouts and oven recipes run about half an hour. Fullscreen digits are readable from the other side of a kitchen or living room.

Questions worth asking

Q.01 Does the timer drift over thirty minutes?
No. It checks the real clock against the moment the countdown should end, so it stays accurate even if the tab is in the background.
Q.02 Why does the screen change color?
The timer is a light as well as a clock. It starts as cool 6500K daylight and warms through the color temperatures of a sunset — 4000K, 3000K, 2200K — to an ember red at zero, so you can tell roughly how much time is left from across a room without reading the digits. Turn off Color light for a plain dark timer.
Q.03 Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown is calculated from the clock rather than counted tick by tick, so it finishes on time even when the browser slows down a background tab. The alarm plays when it ends, as long as the tab is still open and the sound toggle is on.
Q.04 Will my screen turn off while the timer runs?
On browsers that support the Screen Wake Lock API (Chrome, Edge and recent Safari), the timer asks the device to keep the screen on while it runs, and releases that request when you pause or the countdown ends.
